Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began an education in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard started her career as a commercial seafood expert in 1999, when she started working aboard the F/V Sunset 65' halibut-schooner, which has become a to salmon tender with Murat Aritan, a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard married Aritan in 1999. The two have joined in fighting for their company. They are both proponents of preserving sustainable and renewable sources of seafood. Otolith was founded in Philadelphia by Bella Bossard and is currently the mother of two children aged 3 and 1, Bossard. The husband of the business has a lengthy career in the fishing industry and often they are separated from each other for five months or longer.
